The word "personality" has come up a few times lately, and I am wondering what exactly I mean when I talk about personality.

It isn't the thought-identified persona. It is more of an energy field that a person or animal is born with. Some people are just naturally energetic and outgoing. While others are quieter and more introspective.

Just curious what others here mean when they speak of personality. Light Mystic mentioned that after awakening the personality is freer to express itself again.

What do y'all have to say?

Well, to me, personality is experienced as the flow of a specific aspect of life. It's tendencies, it's likes, it's dislikes, and the parts of it's own infinity that is chooses to highlight. I'm highlighting the universe's "Light Mystic"-ness, for example, and you are highlighting the infinite's summer-ness and Randy is highlighting Being's Randy-ness. I almost feel like life says "have you ever noticed X group of qualities?" And that's what the appearance of individuality comes from. Totally fascinating from my perspective. This, of course, is true for all aspects of Creation: rocks, movies, concepts, angels, colors, animals, etc. Qualities. And each of these bundles of qualities have their own nature, their own tendencies, and their own ways of functioning.

People say that we should just accept things as they are, but a lot of the time don't seem to realize that to do that would include all the natural tendencies of personality. People say that we should accept the infinite as ourselves, but that infinite includes all aspects of all things, including personalities. It's not that the personality is really not there anymore, it's just that it's recognized to be only a small aspect of who and what we are. It's like we discover that we are a human being who has been identifying with one of our fingers. It's not that it's NOT us, and it doesn't go away, but it's recognized as a functioning part in the context of the whole of who you really are. The primary identity shifts. Yet, when the fingers move, the attention goes to that oftentimes, and that also appropriate. So identification can happen, but now it's always within the context of being the whole person, and so no one who is identifying that way is going to feel all freaked out just because the cosmic hand closes ("Where did the finger go!?" ).

Very good question.
I think that "personality" comes very close to what is commonly referred to as "ego" in the spiritual literature.
In light of the above discussion, as well as others, it is seen that ego is a particular manifestation of awareness.

I used to think that personality depended on the conditioning that a child was raised in. Almost as if it was developed as a response to life situations that a child met in life.

Ego?.......Personality?....there was a very shaky line between the two.

After spending a lot of time with infants lately, it seems like each one of them is born with something unique. Probably why I am just using the word "energy field" lately. Two children can be born to the same parents, raised in the same environment, and yet each one of them will have their own responses to the same situation. Even the mothers will say how differently each one of their children felt in their womb. One will kick a lot, and seem quite restless even before birth. And another will feel very peaceful and calm in the womb.

Then I look at the differences between the teachers that we speak of here.
Mooji comes across very differently than John Shrman, or Eckhart Tolle, for example. Mooji has a p*filtered*ion about him, and seems to take life by the horns. Whereas, John and Eckhart seem to more p*filtered*ively just go with the flow.

What is that?

I would equate that more with essence.

"Personality", however, comes from the word 'persona'...from the Greek theaters. Those masks worn with the megaphone mouths to project the sound....the which the sound comes there...per (through) sona (sound). This is not exactly translation, but I am pointing at what a personality is...that fake mask we acquire growing up and in life. Self image. A 'personality' is not who we really are...it is a fake.
